Kim Ruoff

Senior, Yuniel Paredes, signs his commitment to Daytona State College to pursue his baseball career, as his family looks on with pride. Joined by his parents, siblings, and his 18 month old niece Aviannah, Yuniel is looking forward to a championship baseball season with STA.

STA proudly celebrated its student-athletes on Wednesday, Feb. 4 during National Signing Day in the gymnasium at 3:00 PM. Uniball, famous for their high quality pens, was a proud sponsor of the event. The purpose of Signing Day is for students to sign a National Letter of Intent to commit to an NCAA DI or DII institution. Students sign a binding letter to the college of their choice. This is a very special event at STA because it is extremely rewarding to watch student athletes reach the next step in their future; honoring seniors who have committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level. Surrounded by family, friends, coaches, and classmates the athletes officially signed their letters of intent naming a vital milestone in their journeys.

This year’s ceremony spotlighted the dedication, discipline, and perseverance required to compete at a high level while maintaining strong academics. Each athlete was recognized not only for their talent in the game, but also for the countless hours of training, sacrifice and resilience that led them to this moment. Julian Diaz, a baseball player who has committed to Miami Dade College, shared, “I am honored to be a part of this wonderful group of men and women who have committed and I am looking forward to the collegiate level of baseball, and academics!”
