On April 17, 2026, the STA school community experienced a special and memorable event as Archbishop Thomas Wenski joined students for a celebratory Mass on campus. His visit made the liturgy truly meaningful, giving both students and staff the opportunity to come together as a community in faith. According to Father Celsus, the Mass focused primarily on the three reasons God created us: to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him. Father Celsus explained “You cannot love what you do not know, and when there’s passion, there’s love, and when there’s love there’s service. One cannot serve without love and to know God is to let passion cultivate.” The Mass emphasized strengthening one’s personal relationship with God and living out through faith every day. Archbishop Wenski’s presence highlighted the importance of unity within both the school and the Church community.

This Mass was especially unique not only because of the Archbishop’s presence, but also because visits like this are rare, typically happening only once a year. Having such a high-ranking Church leader celebrate Mass at STA was both an honor and a reflection of the school’s dedication to Catholic education and spiritual growth. Archbishop Wenski, who leads the Archdiocese of Miami, will celebrate 50 years as an ordained priest next month. He plays an important role in guiding Catholics throughout South Florida, supporting schools, parishes, and the wider community.

Behind the scenes, the careful planning and teamwork of campus ministry, administration, musicians, altar servers, and student volunteers ensured the event’s success. Each group contributed to preparing and carrying out such a significant occasion.

For a majority of students and faculty, this was more than a typical Mass, it was an opportunity to really deepen their faith. Mass is not simply a requirement, but a chance to reflect, pray, and connect on a deeper level with God. As students move forward throughout the school year, this experience can serve as motivation to stay engaged and present during Mass. It may also encourage students to remain open-minded and more willing to connect their faith with daily life.
