When you think of the Thanksgiving holiday you most likely imagine a big Thanksgiving meal. Sadly, not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal every year. That’s why there are many places where you can donate food items that contribute to making a Thanksgiving meal possible for less fortunate families. By donating, you can help make a difference in someone’s Thanksgiving day.
Students at STA were able to donate Thanksgiving items to make a difference for Kids in Distress between November 10-17, 2025. The Aquinas Kindness Club hosted this annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, where underclassmen competed to win sweet treats for the classroom with the largest number of donation points. Each item donated was worth a single donation point. The winning class was Mrs. Jones in room 227! All six of the periods received a golden ticket that they could exchange for delicious soft serve ice cream. Kids in Distress is a nonprofit organization that works to prevent child abuse, help families, and treat childeren who have been abused and neglected through a variety of programs. This drive has made a significant impact for children who otherwise might not have had the opportunity to enjoy a healthy holiday meal.
STA freshman Kami Orris says, “I donated mac-and-cheese to the Thanksgiving food drive, and I really love mac-and-cheese, so I’m really stoked that I got to give it to kids in distress.” Giving back to others in need allows you to be more appreciative for the things that you might otherwise take for granted. What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?
