Saint Thomas Aquinas Defeats Cocoa

Saint Thomas Aquinas Defeats Cocoa

The remaining State champs, the Saint Thomas Aquinas Raiders, defeated Cocoa Beach with a controversial win. Cocoa Beach had the ball with 1:28 left in the 4th quarter up 36-34. Cocoa snapped the ball and took a knee, putting the clock at 1:21 remaining. The referees then called a penalty on Saint Thomas for a personal foul. Cocoa then took another knee on third down forcing them to punt the football on 4th. With 32 seconds left on the clock, the Raiders returned the punt to Cocoas 37 yard line, but there was a flag on the play for too many men on the field. The penalty eventually got called off. Junior Quarterback Andrew Indorf threw a 35 yard pass to four star wide receiver, Chance Robinson, putting the Raiders at the 2 yard line. On the first down Indorf spiked the ball. On the second down, Indorf threw an incomplete pass. Saint Thomas drained the clock to get a penalty for delay of game, putting them back to the 19 to set them up for a field goal. On third down, the Raiders brought out the special team squad with 9 seconds remaining on the clock to potentially hit a game winning field goal. Senior Kicker Francesco Pileggi kicked the ball right down the middle to defeat Cocoa 37-36.
