Every year during the second semester students at STA must re-register for classes that they will take in the upcoming school year. When a student thinks of “new classes” they tend to worry and feel stressed out for the next year. This could be because the student is moving up a grade and thinks that they have to work harder and diligently for the classes they will be taking. At STA, the school counseling and college guidance office works with students to determine the classes they will be taking in the upcoming year. During a registration appointment, students need to have an open mind and clear understanding of the course offerings and pre-requisites. By having a one-on-one conversation with the counselor, students can gain a better understanding of what to expect from their schedule and courses.
Reregistration is important during the second semester because the classes that the student chooses will be the classes a student will be taking for next year. Course choices help shape the futures of high school students. Colleges look closely at high school transcripts to assess the level of challenging upper-level coursework that aspiring students can manage. By taking challenging coursework like honors, AP and dual enrollment, high school students strengthen their college applications, improve academic skills, and prepare for the academic challenges of college. Students can review the course selections for 2026-2027 by reading therough the course catalogue.
The 2026-2027 academic year at STA will offer seven courses, instead of six. Students will have the opportunity to choose an additional elective course, diversifying their transcripts and giving them an extra edge when applying to college. The new courses that STA is offering for the 2026/2027 school year are Personal Finance Honors, Business Principles AP, Lifting, Culinary, Botany, and AICE classes. Students can find more information about these new courses by emailing their counselor. At reregistration counselors will review specific courses that best fit the students’ goals. By planning and registering for next year’s classes, students take an active role in their academic progress.
