The Saint Thomas Aquinas High School JV soccer team started the 2025 season strong with a 4-0 record, eleven goals scored and zero goals conceded. These early wins came against Belen Jesuit, Highlands Christian Academy, Naples High school, and Archbishop McCarthy. The Raiders have dominated on fields across Broward County with all but one match, against Belen Jesuit, being on opponents’ ground.
After a blowout game against Highlands Christian Academy and a 2:0 win against Naples High School, the JV Raiders were ready to continue their season with a win against rival Archbishop McCarthy on Monday, November 17. This game was the tightest game yet, but the team managed to squeak out a goal by Beckett Schaefer, inevitably leading to a win. McCarthy kept pressing but the Raiders stood their ground for the duration of the game with strong performances from defensive players and goalie, Nicolas Barnard.
Unsurprisingly, the coaches named The Players of the Game in the match against Archbishop McCarthy as freshman, Beckett Schaefer and sophomore, Nicolas Barnard. Beckett dribbled like an expert on the field which led him to a well-deserved performance and goal. Nicolas Barnard held it down in the net, keeping another clean sheet. Together, both players secured a win for the Raiders.
Freshman, Joshua Orisme is proud to share the field with a talented team, “The most impressive thing I’ve seen was our very first game when Matthew Hernandez scored from the 35 yard line!” Orisme is confident that the team will achieve their goal of an undefeated season, “We’ve been playing composed. We’ve been playing as a team.”
The JV Raiders will continue their quest for a perfect season with the upcoming game against Cardinal Gibbons.
