On September 21st of this year, Homecoming is the perfect time of the year to enjoy yourself, spend time with friends, but most importantly, get dressed up! Choosing the right dress and shoes for Homecoming can be a struggle, and it may take a long time to make sure every detail of the outfit is perfect. Although the process of choosing your outfit while staying within the dress code can be difficult, the end result is always worth it. Knowing where to shop for dresses and shoes is essential to ensure you forage the stores that can accommodate your preferences best. After all, you wouldn’t want to go through hundreds of stores and waste time.
The most popular place for dress shopping this season is Windsor. Sophomore Zoey Feinberg explains, “Windsor has great dresses that can accommodate every person’s needs.” Other stores such as Macy’s, PrettyLittleThing, and Fashion Nova are on the short list, but Windsor seems to be at the top!
Student attire varies each and every year, depending on what’s in style or personal preferences. Current trends are leaning towards tight, mid-length dresses of all colors and styles as well as sparkly high heels. Freshman Gianna Attento stated, “I’m planning to wear a tight baby pink dress.” Sophomore Sophia Barnes agreed: “I am planning to wear a fitted short dress.” Lastly, sophomore Havana Norton commented, “I plan to wear sparkly high heels.”
Finding what to wear at homecoming is one thing but making sure it fits the dress code is another. For Lady Raiders you’re allowed to wear semi-formal dresses, dresses that are straight arm/fingertip length at the thigh and dressy shoes/sandals. But on the other hand, try to stay away from wearing visible undergarments of any kind, extreme cleavage, exposed bare middle (no cut outs), flip flops or athletic shoes. For gentlemen you are allowed to wear a dress shirt and tie, dress pants with a belt and dress shoes. Avoid hats, canes, athletic shoes and jeans.
Homecoming is a very exciting time for all students. Some may enjoy hanging out with their friends, while others may like the music or look forward to showing off their extravagant outfits! The STA Homecoming Dance is a great opportunity to enjoy all of these things and have fun. Sophomore Emma Bear said, “I’m most excited for the music at the dance this year.” Freshman Karina Gallagher stated, “I am most excited to see all my friends.” Sophomore Jakhi Barber says “I’m most looking forward to the dance.”
Make sure to shop for your attire now to have the best outfit on the dance floor. Enjoy your time at Homecoming and remember to let loose and have a good time Raiders!
