The upcoming 2024 Summer Olympic Games are just a few months away. This year’s Olympics will be hosted in France; 20 out of the 35 Olympic games will take place in Paris, but a select few will occur in the neighboring cities: Versailles, Le Bourget, Nanterre, Vaires-sur-Marne, and Saint-Denis. The non-medal events will commence on July 24, after which, thousands of participants will compete in 329 medal events from July 26 to August 11.
2024 Paris Olympic Mascot
The 2024 Olympic mascot will be the Olympic Phryges, which is based on the traditional Phrygian caps. It was chosen because it represents freedom and the French Republic. The design of the mascot is also based on the French flag, which boasts the colors blue, white, and red. Additionally, the mascot’s chest is adorned with the Paris 2024 logo.
The Opening Ceremonies
This year’s Olympics will introduce new courses and customs that have never been seen before in Olympic history. The games are set to launch on July 26 with an Opening Ceremony outside of the stadium on the river. This will be the first time the Olympics are brought outside of the stadium, and into the city, for the largest Opening Ceremony in Olympic history!
Another major development for the 2024 Olympics is that the Ceremony will be free and open to the public! With the grandest Opening Ceremony yet and the most diverse crowds, the Summer Olympics are sure to make history.
Events
In the previous Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, sports such as climbing, skateboarding, and surfing made their Olympic debut.. Fortunately, these events will occur once again as part of the 32 sports in the Paris Olympics. Additionally, one new event is joining the 2024 ranks; breaking, more commonly known as breakdancing, is a sport in which two competitors face off in three 60 second throw-downs. There will be a DJ who selects and spins the music, a host, and five different judges who decide the winner of the battles. Instead of traditional point-based scoring, the five judges will use a slider to decide the victor, and whoever’s side the judges put their sliders on will win.
Expectations
The 2024 Olympics is anticipated by many who are enthralled for this major event to begin. One person who is exhilarated for the Olympics is Ethan Grenier “I am really excited about the Paris Olympics because France, my home country, will be hosting it and I am so excited to watch it on the screen” .Many others feel the same . The expectations are extensive for the 2024 Paris Olympics. This is why there is a whopping 300,000 spectator capacity for it. Overall, this year’s Olympic games is expected to exceed limitations and be one of the most outstanding events of the whole year.
