The STA Varsity soccer team, the 20th team in the nation and number 15 in the state of Florida, won the district tournament on January 27th, and now are getting ready for regionals and states. They had a bye week in the quarter finals, but then won the district semifinal game against Cooper City High School with a lopsided score of 5-0. The Raiders then won the district final on January 27th, defeating South Broward 2-1. They start the state championship tournament with a regional quarterfinal game against Dwyer Panthers on February 6th.
The season for the varsity soccer team started on Nov. 4, 2026 against Doral Academy where they lost 1-0. This led the varsity team to struggle slightly, losing 5 of the 11 games they played from Nov. 4, 2026 to Dec. 6, 2026 resulting in a 6-5 record. After that, the Raiders locked in, losing only one out of the thirteen games they played after, leading the team to a 18-6 record.
This team has been exceptional this season, scoring 69 goals and only giving up 28. The top player on the points sheet is senior Rayne Archuleta with 31 points followed by captain and fellow senior Ethan See with 23 points. The 3rd highest point tally is junior Matteo Forato with 20.
Sophomore Matteo Amarini shared his insights on the Varsity team and upcoming Regionals, saying that, “It feels great to be part of such an amazing team with some great seniors.” He also emphasized how hard players are working to prepare for the tournament: “We are watching film of the teams we are playing, and trying to watch what they are doing. We can beat these teams in Regionals because of the way we have been playing. The only team we are scared of is Cypress Bay, but they are not in our division, so we are chilling.”
