This world sees people do crazy things, but this one has got to be one of the craziest. A man named Frank IIett has taken the internet by storm since he promised he would not cut his hair until his favorite team, Manchester United, wins 5 games in a row. It started a year ago in October 2024, and is still going strong a year later. Even though this seemed like an easy challenge, it got harder as Man U had one of their worst seasons ever where they got sixteenth place in the Premier League last year. The last time they won five games in a row was February, 2024.
IIett has gone from a person doing this as a joke, to getting recognized in public and getting in ads for hair products because his hair has grown so long. Countless times, Man United has been close to achieving a five-game win streak, and it looked like IIett might get that haircut, but then Man United ended up losing or tying their games and broke the streak. This has gotten so popular that Diogo Dalot, a player on Manchester United, said in an interview with DAZN, “[The team] hope[s] we can give him that haircut.” IIett also added, “[The team has] to go game by game. Obviously, [Man United] know[s] this is a very difficult league. [Man United has] tough games and, of course, [the team has] to go after that consistency that [the team] have lacked because [the team has] already shown in the past that [they] can compete against any team in the world.” Right now, since Man United tied their last game against Nottingham Forest, the earliest we might be able to see IIett get that haircut is December 8. It will be tricky, though, because Man United’s next game is against Tottenham Hotspur, who are doing very well this year under Thomas Frank. After that, the next games will be surely winnable as they play Everton, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Wolves. If Man United does not win against Tottenham, then Bournemouth will be added to the list, and the earliest Frank would be able to get a haircut would be December 13.
