4A Region 4 Track & Field Championship

On Wednesday, May 8th, St. Thomas Aquinas’ track team took part in the Florida 4A Region 4  Championship at Ansin Sports Complex, which would determine eligibility for the State Championship.

 

The Girls

In the 100-meter dash, Kelyse Jackson came in 5th with a time of 12.01 qualifying for states, Jordyn Drowning came in 9th place with a time of 12.33, and Kymora Marley placed  19th with a time of 12.65. In the 200m, Shanell Morgan came  in 7th with a time of 25.34, Sydney Tyler came  in 11th with a time of 26.05, and Jordyn Drowning came  in 13th place with a time of 26.06.

In the 400m, Shanell Morgan placed 6th with a time of 57.90 qualifying for states, Kiley Opsal placed 17th with a time of 1:03.31, and Hadiza Crockett placed  21st with a time of 1:03.72.

In the 800m, Grace Finneran came in  2nd with a time of 2:16.11. She also placed 1st in the 1600m with a time of 5:05.47; both rounds qualified her for states. In the 3200m, Remy Coia finished in  9th place with a time of 12:57.01. 

In 100m hurdles, Arianna Allen came in  2nd with a time of 14.54 qualifying for states, while Aisha Hane placed  6th with a time of 15.35 and Isys Crockett placed 20th with a time of 18.16. Furthermore, in the 400m hurdles, Arianna Allen came in  2nd with a time of 1:02.74, Kelyse Jackson came in  3rd with a time of 1:02.86, Aisha Hane placed  4th with a time of 1:05.14 all of which qualified for states, and Ayanna Bryant finished 12th with a time of 1:10.12. In the 4x100m, the relay team placed 2nd with a time of 47.64. In the 4x400m, the STA team also placed 2nd with a time of 3:50.89, qualifying for states in both events.

 

The Boys

In the boys’ 100m,  Lee Prince finished 3rd in the 100m with a time of 10.66 qualifying for states, and Jermiyah Douglas finished 21st with a time of 11.24. In the boys 200m, Lee Prince placed 1st with a time of  21.39 and Tavius Horne Jr. placed 5th with a time of 21.51 qualifying  both players for states. In the boys’ 400m, Tavius Horne Jr. placed 6th with a time of 49.45 and Mehki Chamberlain finished 17th with a time of 51.68. In the boys 800m, Christopher Adams placed 1st with a time of 1:56.48.  Gustavo Perez and Jeremiah Holassie finished 15th and 16th with  times of 2:03.03 and 2:03.19. Ashton Mitchel finished with a time of 2:19.25.In the 1600m, Jeremiah Holassie placed 9th with a time of 4:35.02 and Marco Ristaino finished 17th with a time of 4:46.86.

          In the 110m hurdles, Johnny Arneus Jr placed 10th with  a time of 15.88 and Tyler Blake finished 21st with a time of 16.97.  In the boys 400m hurdles, Tyler Blake finished in 15th with a time of 1:01.96. In the 4×100, the boys finished 8th with a time of  42.63. In the 4×400, the boys finished 9th in the time of 3:29.88. In the boys 4×800 they finished 4th with a time of 8:10.13.
