After over a year of anxious anticipation for Roblox players, the game called Blox Fruits, inspired by One Piece, released its first update since December 25, 2023. On December 14th, 2024, just in time for the holidays, the Blox Fruits community was in a state of awe and excitement when game creators finally released their Dragon Update.

Leading up to its reveal, the Dragon Update was indubitably anticipated by players. In fact, in preparation for this momentous update, players began to collect Dragon Fruits, gather mastery on Dragon Talon, and gain Fragments. The Dragon Fruit user is a main antagonist from the animation and manga One Piece. The user of the Dragon Fruit is called Kaido, a warlord, yokai, and user of Conqueror’s Haki ( An exclusive kind of Haki). The Conqueror’s Haki is complex, but to put it shortly, it could be used as a force making their surroundings feel their authority; other players faint or fall when it is exercised. It won’t affect those with a stronger or a similar type of will. The Dragon Fruit itself is a Mythical Zoan type of Blox Fruit; a transformation type of Devil Fruit, with special and unique abilities compared to the normative of the Zoan type. Dragon Talon was the anticipated evolution of the combat style, Dragon Breath. One needs to obtain both the required mastery on this particular topic and the needed amount of Berries and Fragments for the evolution.
Before the update, Dragon Talon was the combat style with the highest damage count, but its lack of versatility made it less useful. For example, it had no aptitude for combos, allowing the enemy to escape the combo to counter attack or escape the fight; as a result, many chose to examine what they could do with other combat styles. The Dragon Talon combat style, loved by many for its possibility and potential power, has inspired many players and fans to request a revamp: a revision of the art, animation, abilities, possibilities, range, hitboxes, and movements could make this combat style more reliable. One administrator of the game has been posting videos online comparing the old fighting styles to the new. Their avatar is a dragon character, and he has clearly shown himself to be a fan of the new Dragon features. (And their devotion to this update has encouraged even more enthusiasm in players!) Dragon Talon is now one of the most powerful fighting styles! Even the author of this article, a newbie at PvP (player versus player), has attempted hunting players for bounty, even fighting battles he previously would have avoided. The new ability to do massive damage with additional range, along with the new eye-grabbing animations, is sure to attract any level of player.

The new update has also introduced the Dragon Dojo’s “belts.” These belts are similar to rankings that give you rewards or access. The first is the White Belt, which you can earn by defeating 20 NPCs with different levels. Next is the Yellow Belt, which also comes with the reward of a Rare Scroll. Scrolls give enchantments and buffs to weapons; the only drawback is that they are quite difficult to make or obtain. The rarer the scroll, the more strenuous it is to obtain. The Yellow Belt’s trial is to defeat a certain number of Sea Events (Sea Beasts and other enemies at Sea). The Blue Belt requires someone to return a dropped Fruit to the holder, and its specialty allows players to upgrade Dragon Talon.
Although public information about the Update was scarce, the Blox Fruits Community is flexible and extremely fast in their work. The first morning, the community was booming with questions. Even when given no hints to any of the requirements or features, the community worked together to access all of the new features accompanying this Update within three to four days. They have since published full details of the assignments, rewards, and additional features on Blox Fruits’ Wikipedia page.

The fellow players and close friends of the author estimated 900 thousand players would appear for the event. Another said “probably 1 million.” The number of players who logged on for the initial Update far surpassed fans and their guesstimations: 2.1 million players were online, a whole hearted two million and 100 thousand players! These numbers continued to climb throughout the evening, eventually surpassing 3 million!
With little to no information, many, if not all of the 2 million and hundred thousand players were online scouring the Sea to discover the new revisions and additions that the creators had crafted! After all, it wasn’t only the fruit that was updated; islands were updated as well, with mysterious violet spikes piercing out the ground. A Dragon Dojo with unusual smoke also drew in players, and the new NPCs inside were an exciting addition.
However, one disagreement emerged between the players and the developers. At the release of the Update, players discovered that Dragon Fruit which they had purchased in-game was now deleted. This game element had been purchased by players with real money, so the outrage was significant. Instead of having the new “Dragon Fruit” prior to the Update, your Devil Fruit is now “Dragon: Classic,” with the same moveset from before the Update. The stored fruits vanished from the players’ storage. For many, this meant all of the preparation for the Update– all the money spent prior, all the time and effort of developing mastery with the previous Dragon Fruit, the trades people have sacrificed for the Dragon Fruit– meant nothing.

Players haven’t kept silent about their frustration and anger. Many players expressed this anger in the chat, and some even vowed to quit the game forever. The community has gathered together in frustration, and initiated the idea of boycotting Blox Fruits.
The developers responded quickly to the outrage voiced by the fanbase. Those who had bought the permanent Dragon Fruit prior to the update had their purchases restored in their inventory as well as their storage units. The only drawback is that players’ mastery was reset, since the update introduced a new Dragon Fruit.
Now that everyone’s rage and resentment against the developers has been resolved, many players are willing to spend a whopping fifty dollars to buy Dragon Fruit instead of using the gacha (chance) system to spin for the Devil Fruit. The game continues to attract players, even though the excitement of the update has died down. Over 700 thousand people continued to play on January 5th.
This update has added new opportunities to explore and items to obtain. Don’t forget to log on and check out the new features! This includes Easter Eggs ( hidden traits within games) that are worth the find, especially because they add even more mystery to the world of Blox Fruits.
