THE REMATCH: The Saint Thomas Aquinas Raiders vs. The Homestead Broncos.

1st Half    

The Aquinas Raiders received the ball first coming into the game. On the second play of the game, Senior Justin Montgomery rushed the ball 20 yards down the field to put the Aquinas Raiders in opponent territory. A couple plays later, junior Andrew Indorf connected with senior Chance Robinson for a 27 yard pass to the Aquinas Raiders on the Broncos 5 yard-line. The Broncos put up a fight and forced the Raiders to take a field goal making the score 3-0. However, the Aquinas Raiders swiftly forced a 3 and out on the Broncos offense forcing a punt. The Aquinas Raiders quickly got the ball back to make another big play with a 28 yard bomb to freshman Julius Jones. A few plays later the Aquinas Raiders scored the first touchdown of the game with a screen pass to Senior Jordan Lyle to make the score 10-0. Seeking to revive, the Broncos tried to keep up the momentum with a swift 18 yard rush. After an impressive Broncos drive, the Aquinas Raiders defense dominated the field by creating a stop on 4th down for the Broncos.  However, the Aquinas Raiders went 3 and out the next play leading to a punt back to the Broncos. On the first play of the next drive, the Broncos threw a 26 yard pass to get things started. After that pass, the drive was short lived with Aquinas Raiders forcing a punt. The Aquinas Raiders started the next drive off with a 26-yard run from senior Jordan Lyle. After a few good plays, the Aquinas Raiders ended up on the goal line with a wildcat formation to score with a rushing touchdown from senior Jordan Lyle.

2nd Half

The Broncos got the ball back but were forced to punt with a 3 and out from the Aquinas Raiders. However, the Broncos quickly cooked up an impressive drive ending with a Broncos screen pass for a touchdown making the score 17-7. The Aquinas Raiders fumbled the ball on the next drive, leading to another Broncos touchdown making the score 17-14. After a close call with a Aquinas Raiders fumble that was ruled out of bounds, junior Andrew Indorf connected with freshman Julius Jones for a 50-yard Raiders touchdown making the score 24-14. The Broncos received the ball back on the next drive, leading to a 45 yard touchdown pass from the Broncos making the score 24-21. The Broncos defense forced the Raiders to punt which quickly got them the ball back. The Broncos drove down the field but were stopped in the red zone with a sack by junior Trevor Sommers and sophomore Jakhi Barber. With a tight game and momentum high, junior Andrew Indorf connected a 70 yard touchdown to junior Andreus Madison to make the score 31-21. The Broncos received the ball on the kickoff and drove down into the Aquinas Raiders red zone. The Broncos scored with a 17-yard rushing touchdown by the Broncos quarterback making the score 31-28. The Raiders received the ball back with 2:15 seconds left in the State Championship game, up by three points only needing a first down to seal the deal. senior Jordan Lyle came in clutch, by helping the Aquinas Raiders win their 5th State Championship in a row and the 15th State Championship ever. Congrats, Raiders!
