The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders Varsity football team faced the Boyd Anderson Cobras in a blowout game on August 29, 2025. After coming off a 26-23 hard-fought loss to top-ranked Mater Dei High School the previous week during a nationally-televised game on ESPN, the Raiders were ready for a win. The game was set for a 7 p.m. kick-off, but, due to rain delays, the game started at 9:47 p.m.
Despite the rainy conditions, STA quickly scored a touchdown just two minutes into the game thanks to a Jermiyah Douglas punt-return, which gave the Raiders a quick lead. However, this was not the only special teams touchdown of the game, as St. Thomas had four total. Two special-teams touchdowns came from Jermiyah Douglas, and the other two came from Jordan Roache and Shiloh Dent. In the middle of the first half, though, lightning struck within the area, forcing a delay. When the game started back up, so did the domination, and at the end of the first half, the Raiders led 51-0. The Boyd Anderson Cobras were fighting to defend their name but the Raiders did not slow down. At halftime, the Raider Regiment performed their act for the crowd as everyone watched their showcase of school pride and excitement. Throughout the rest of the game, every player on the St. Thomas team got the chance to play. The Cobras got into the endzone in the fourth quarter showing their determination, but it was not enough to keep up with the Raiders.
The final score was 72-6 Saint Thomas. The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders will be on the road to play their first away game on Friday, September 5th, vs Columbus High School. Boyd Anderson will play Fort Lauderdale High School for their next game, looking for a bounce-back win.
