“As he walked in the cold shadows of night he made careful calculated steps to cover his tracks. The trunk was cleaned with a mix of solutions as he walked through the wooded terrain he heard the branches beneath his pressure snap and crackle and pop from the weight of his feet. As he started to shovel the piles of leaves out of his way he heard an unknown sound from a nearby tree. A laugh. Trees creak, they break and they crunch but one has never heard of a laughing tree. As he started to wonder and ponder what could make a tree laugh he remembered how that same laugh was heard when he was taking the plates off the car or when he had taken the car to get a full detail. But what made him start to sweat and shiver in his corduroy pants and his flannel shirt as he looked at his blood stained vans and he knew. He had been caught as he looked back at the tree ever so slowly he dropped the shovel in the 2 ft hole. He looked at the night sky. The fading sun and the darkness that had engulfed him like a flame to a moth. He walked towards the tree with such gentleness and care it may seem to others who caught him in the act to believe he was approaching a small kitten by themselves needing some affection. As time ticked and the perspiration dampened his shirt. His once black hair fading to a golden shimmer in the sun as black started to run down his neck he knew he had been caught. When he is at the base of the tree he sees a familiar figure and knows he is home as he reaches towards the tree to grab at the hidden figure he is violently shaken and awoken from his horrible slumber. Looking at the alarm clock blaring 4:00 in the morning he knows that it is time as he looks out the window of the padded room. He sees her and knows he couldn’t let her get away. As he looked at the decapitated nine year old in front of him his little sister with her stuffy knowing it was a mistake because he killed the wrong little girl. He stared at the figure holding the picture of the little girl from down the block. Smiling and waving and telling him everything will be ok. I will have the doctors release you soon. You can be in my company again. I will always take care of you and I will always love you. Little do they know that the man was actually a psychiatrist world renowned even and the woman in front of him was the girl from down the block whose brother had killed his little sister. He knew he had to get rid of her. It wasn’t fair that only one of them got to live so he tried to put her out of her misery. Little did he know the blade never hit her heart. Sadly the blade had gone into her appendix and she was rushed to the hospital and saved. How was it fair? The same person who orchestrated the killing of his sister was the same one who would take him under his wing. He tried to escape but that is how he ended up here. Little ridged bit of advice when a kidnapper entices you with the promise of freedom if you kill someone just know they will never let you go. You can eat, burn spears and shoot but they will continue to hurt you. Even when you don’t want to exist. The witness protection program was made for instances like this. The victim is running from the victimizer and needs to be saved. And now that the system has failed him he had to run. As the door opens the door is set in place by there was only one issue, no one not even himself would make it out alive.
