STA Aquinas Kindness Is Taking An Initiative with Local Catholic Middle Schools

STA Aquinas Kindness is leading retreats to create community and fellowship on the middle school level.

The Aquinas Kindness Club is one of the most positive and welcoming clubs at St.Thomas Aquinas High School. Their goal is to spread compassion, generosity, and understanding to others and throughout the community. The club’s moderator, Mr. Balmaceda, helps lead the mission by organizing events that remind students how much of a difference kindness can make.

The club meets in Room 214 where they plan events that are upcoming and talk about ways to spread/encourage more positivity around school. Their activities are meant to bring students together and set examples of teamwork and gratitude through kind acts of service. Mr. Balmaceda explained that the club focuses on not just acts of kindness on campus, but also in Catholic middle schools, teaching younger students how to build strong, healthy friendships/relationships without negativity or peer pressure.

Some of their recent/upcoming activities are “Popsicles at the Lawn,” a meet and greet event in room 214 on Friday, 10/10, and the October Candy Drive, which collects candy

donations for the school’s Halloween celebration. For the candy drive, participating teachers will use the candy collected to set up decorative trick-or-treat stations for students to enjoy sweet treats all day on Halloween. The club is also planning to help with the School’s Open House setup and clean-up, and also a Cultural Art Workshop for Spanish Heritage Month. That event will be about how art can help you understand and appreciate all the cultures in the STA community.

When asked why people should join the club, many members said it’s because the club feels like a safe space where everyone’s voice is heard. It is also a chance to make new friends and spread positivity at the same time.

To join the Aquinas Kindness Club, students can stop by Room 214 after school or talk to Mr. Balmaceda. Any chance they get, the Aquinas Kindness Club reminds everyone that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
