On October 5, 2025, Sevilla beat Barcelona after a ten year winless streak against them in La Liga. It was matchday eight at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium in Sevilla, Spain. Sevilla was at home, and it showed throughout the stadium. The passion and emotion in the stadium could be felt, even through the television braodcast. In the 13th minute, Alexis Sanchez found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper on a penalty, and secured Sevilla’s first goal of the match. Isaac Romero scored right before halftime, putting Sevilla up 2-0. The stadium erupted after every attack, and the energy was exhilarating. Right before the second half, England international Marcus Rashford found the back of the net with his left foot. In the second half, Sevilla sealed the win with a far corner shot by Jose Angel Carmona. Sevilla showed total dominance in and outside the pitch, while the Barcelona squad was completely shut off and could not do much. Akor Adams showed up as a stunning substitute, scoring in stoppage time after a rapid counter attack and making the final score 4-1.
