Preparing for the SAT is a key step in paving the way for college admissions, academic courses, and scholarships. Preparing for the test is more than just taking the test, it’s knowing the structure of it. Taking a practice SAT test is a great way to start off. According to Coursera, “Before you begin the work of studying, take a free practice test online to get a sense about your natural strengths, and to better understand where you should focus your efforts.” This allows the test taker to become familiar with the test format and feel comfortable with it before taking the actual test. After taking the practice test the tester can see how they scored; if the score is low, that’s when students can find other resources to help them reach the score they are satisfied with.
Moreover, finding a tutor for the SAT could be difficult. There are many tutors and apps to be a successful test taker. One being Khan Academy, this has improved students’ scores significantly. Khan Academy is an online resource that provides free tutorials that grant students: instructional videos, practice exercises, and a wide range of subjects. This includes science, math, and humanities. Although, some students prefer private tutors. A private tutor can permit students to focus more if they have trouble doing so. Both options are favorable and choosing what works best for you is important. Overall, students that get tutors and good practice strategies for the SAT have a better chance of scoring high and a good chance to get into the college of their preference.
