Dear Aquinas,
My dad’s birthday is this weekend, but I have no idea what to get him. He is very resistant and never tells me what he wants! I just got my first job, so I’m excited to finally use my own money to buy him a gift, but I’m not sure what I should get for him. I don’t want to buy something basic like a “World’s Greatest Dad” mug, shirt or blanket, that’s too unoriginal and boring. What’s something that I can get for him that is affordable and would stand out?
P.S. he enjoys playing guitar and golf. Thank you!

Dear Josh,
Thank you for reaching out to me! I too relate with the struggle of picking something out for my dad’s birthday, they always seem pickier than anyone else. My suggestion would be to get your dad some clothes in his favorite colors, such as a green shirt and a red hat, something simple but still thoughtful and practical. If you want to do something more unique and memorable, you could plan an experience rather than a physical gift. Since you mentioned that your dad likes golf, maybe take him to Topgolf with some of his best friends and family. That way, he’ll not only receive a gift, but also enjoy a fun and memorable day that he’ll remember for a long time!
Until the next question,
