For the second time in three years, the 2025 Boys’ Lacrosse team has accomplished their biggest goal of the season, winning the state championship. Going 21-3 on the season, all of the hard work finally paid off on May 19th in Naples, Florida at the Paradise Coast Stadium when the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders Boys’ Lacrosse team defeated Ponte Vedra 13-4.
All the early morning, late nights, film sessions, and yes, even all the rolling on ground, helped to push these boys over the top to take home the trophy. After a long season of playing some incredibly talented in-state teams like Benjamin and St. Andrews (both games going into overtime) prepared the team for the final regional game against Jupiter, which also went into OT, with the Raiders coming out on top 9 -8 for the final game of the season on their home turf. It was an incredible way for the seniors to go out playing their last home game with an exciting win.
The win against Jupiter for the Regional Championships put the Raiders up for a rematch against Plant High School, who they saw earlier in the season. That game went in the win column for the Raiders with a score of 11-6. However, everyone knows that the championship season brings the best out of the teams and the Raiders knew to come prepared. The game was close for the first half until the Raiders finally took the Plant Panthers over 9 – 6, setting up a championship game against PonteVedra. The Sharks never really had a chance against Diego Salazar’s 7 goals and the team effort that put this game away 13-4. The team, coaches, and support staff should be congratulated on an incredible journey!
