On Tuesday March 25th, St. Thomas Aquinas Boys’ JV and Varsity battled it out against Archbishop McCarthy. Both JV and Varsity played that evening, here at St. Thomas. JV won their game with a final score in the first set of 25 – 20. They won the second set to close out the game with a score of 25 – 13. A huge game changer for the Raiders were their aggressive serves, with Derek Brown serving six aces and Giordano Pernas serving four aces. Back in defense, Connor Frye got 10 digs and Giordano Pernas, nine digs. Giordano continued to hold down the defense with 15 serve-receives. Notable stats include player of the match, Robert Pedragosa with seven kills and Connor Frye with five kills.
After the JV game, Varsity was next on the court. They put up a competitive performance but lost the close game by a score of 3-1. They lost the first set 22 – 25 and the second set 21 – 25. They came back in the third set winning 25 – 15, but lost the match in the fourth set 23 – 25. Player of the match was awarded to Elijah Lam who is a setter and an opposite hitter, John Virginio, who is outside hitter, and Luke Swadener, who is setter and opposite hitter.
