The Boys Lacrosse team recently took a two-game road trip to play at Plant High School and Newsome High School. It was a successful road trip, with the Raiders winning both games. They won against Plant High School first with a score of 11-6 and then won at Newsome with a score of 11-5. Both teams were tough opponents, but not too tough for the Raiders to overtake both on their home fields. It’s always difficult to play on the road, especially two days in a row. As important as it was to win these two games, it was also about coming together as a brotherhood.
Spending these continuous 48 hours really helped the team to solidify. There were many memories made and several traditions carried out. Every newcomer on the varsity team had to prepare a skit for the entire team on the first overnight trip. Everyone did a great job with their performances. Brooklyn Quinones said, “We had some singers, whistlers, and comedians. The best one in my opinion was Kojo’s rendition of “Let It Go” from the movie Frozen.” Moments like this are important for the team to strengthen their bonds and learn to trust one another. This carries over to the field and sets the tone for the rest of the season. Spending quality time off the field is where the foundation for winning championships is set in motion.
