Patrick Mahomes sent the Chiefs to overtime with his 13 second drive down the field. In this game, the Chiefs led 21-16 at halftime, hoping to seal the deal in the next half and secure their trip to their third straight Super Bowl. In the third quarter, the Bills took the lead going up 21-22.
This game had a one-point difference as they entered the final quarter of what could ultimately be the last game of the season for either team. The game came down to the wire with a tie of 29-29 with 6:15 minutes left and the Chiefs with the ball. The Chiefs drove down the field and kicked a field goal, leaving the Bills three and a half minutes to tie or win the game, now down three points in the fourth quarter.
This tense moment would be the last drive of the Bills’ season. The Bills were held to a crucial 4th down with five yards to go, in which they were stopped in their own territory with less than two minutes left on the clock. All the Chiefs needed were two first downs with Isaiah Pacheco picking up the first one and Samaje Perine carrying the second. These two plays sent the Kansas City Chiefs to their third straight Super Bowl and left fans in hope of a three-peat.
