Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior is a 33 year-old professional Brazilian soccer player who has taken his talents all over the world; however, he has now traveled in a full circle. Neymar began his career on the Santos Futebol Clube, a Brazilian soccer team in the state of Sao Paulo. His outstanding performance at Santos drew the attention of one of the best clubs in the world: Barcelona. Neymar transferred to Barcelona in 2013, where he illuminated the field, with his elegant play style and carefully controlled skills, receiving the approval and praises of many fans.
Nevertheless, Neymar wanted to leave Barcelona; many sutbol fans speculate his relocation was due to how he aspired to shine away from his teammate Lionel Messi. With a shocking 222 million euro move to Paris Saint-Germain F.C. in 2017, Neymar took his talent to Paris. Neymar excelled at PSG, but he also suffered from injuries such as an acl tear in his knee. His unfulfilled expectations again spurred him to move teams. He wanted to go back to where he shined most, Barcelona. But after unsuccessful negotiations, he followed the trend to move to the Saudi Pro League. Neymar was reportedly being paid 150 million euros at his new club called Al Hilal. Neymar, dubbed as “The prince who never became king,” was living up to this unfortunate label. Just six months after his debut at Al Hilal, Neymar suffered from a season ending injury: an ACL tear.
After that, Neymar made the monumental decision to go back to where it all started: Santos. January 30th of 2025 was a memorable day for soccer fans all over the world: Neymar Jr. was going back to Brazil. He made his debut on the 6th of February, and the stadium erupted in cheers. From the looks of it, Neymar is happy to be home, and has already scored 2 goals and an assist.
