At 6:00 p.m. on January 30, 2025, the St. Thomas Aquinas Girls’ Soccer team played their District finals game against Cooper City at the Brian Piccolo Stadium. They played this team last year in the playoffs and beat them 2-0, bringing the Cowboys’ season to an end. Knowing this, the Raiders expected that Cooper City would seek retribution. 

The STA Raiders went on the field ready to play, anticipating aggression from the opposition because of the tension of the District Finals.  Fortunately, the Raiders fought hard for their win and beat them 6-1.

Sophie Barnes (So.): 2

Brooklyn Burbridge (Fr.): 1

Bianca Raskin (Jr.): 2

Coach Brian Hantak awarded the MVP title to Sophie Barnes after she scored the 1st and 4th goal and had 1 assist. She exclaimed, “Our goal is to win states, and this was just the first step in reaching it!” With a record of 2-0 in Districts, the Raiders moved forward into the Regional game against Braddock High School on February 4, 2025, hoping to make the long haul to States.
