Saturday January 11th was slated with two games: the Los Angeles Chargers vs. the Houston Texans and the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the Baltimore Ravens.
In the first game, the Chargers took on the Texans in what many sports analysts called an “easy” win for the Chargers. The game started off with a fast Chargers field goal followed by the Texans fumbling their first play on offense, which led to another Chargers score, making it 6-0. From there, the game had a slow first half until an acrobatic interception by Texans’ DB Kamari Lassiter, kickstarting the Texans. The Texans then drove down the field, leading to a Nico Collins touchdown followed by a field goal to make it a 10-6 game at halftime.
From the start of the second half, the Texans dominated. After a field goal by the Texans Chargers QB Justin Herbert threw an interception returned for a touchdown by Texans’ DB Eric Murray to push their lead to 14. The following drive, Justin Herbert had yet another interception to standout and all-pro CB Derek Stingley. After a long Ladd Mcconkey touchdown, the Chargers were finally given a little bit of life. But that all came to an end when Texans’ RB Joe Mixon scored, followed by a whopping fourth interception by Justin Herbert that ended the game with the Texans winning 32-10.
Saturday Night was headlined with a matchup between the division rivals Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers, coming off a 4-game losing streak, were 10-point underdogs, on the flip side, the Ravens were on a 4-game winning streak and had all the momentum. The game started uncontested from the beginning with the Ravens scoring touchdown after touchdown from RBs Derrick Henry and Justice Hill along with WR Rashod Bateman to take a commanding 21-0 lead at the half. But the Steelers weren’t going to go without a fight. They came out with back-to-back touchdowns from Van Jefferson and George Pickens to start the second half, but a Derrick Henry touchdown ultimately sealed the Steelers’ fate in a 28-14 loss.
