On January 18, 2025, the St. Thomas Aquinas Girls’ soccer team traveled to Melbourne to play their last game of the season against Viera High School. It was a three hour trip on a charter bus, and they made it worth it by winning the game. The final score was 3-0.
This is the first time the STA Girls’ team has played Viera, so they didn’t know how they would play or what to expect from them. Regardless, the Raiders came out ready to play and win their last game of the season. Their record is now 13-1-3, ending the regular season with only one loss.
The first goal was scored by Bianca Raskin off of a corner kick, where Sophie Barnes faked the shot after it was passed and Bianca shot it in the goal. The second goal was scored by Sophie Barnes off of a cross given by Brooklyn Burbridge. The last goal was scored by Claudia Timmers with a header from a corner kick taken by Maddie Puleo.
Maddie Puleo was recognized as the MVP by coaches because of the amount of opportunities she created throughout the game. She assisted two out of the three goals and created other chances to score for the team. The STA girls ended the regular season with 13 wins, 1 loss, and 3 ties! They will move into the playoffs, which began with a game against South Broward on January 27th.
