On Friday December 6, 2024 at 7:30pm, the Aquinas Raiders faced the Manatee Hurricanes at Manatee High School.
The Aquinas Raiders faced adversity after overcoming a seven point halftime deficit to win the game 16-13, advancing to another state championship.
In the first quarter, the Raiders kicked two field goals but the Hurricanes matched it with a 60-yard rushing touchdown to tie the game 6-6 ending the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Raiders were left scoreless and the Hurricanes connected on a passing touchdown to give the Hurricanes a 13-6 lead going into halftime. Coming out of halftime, the Raiders scored on a field goal, bringing the score to 13-9 going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter the Hurricanes attempted a tunnel screen but it was intercepted by Zayden Gamble to put the Raiders in scoring position. The Raiders connected on a pass to Cameron Roberts to take the lead in the fourth quarter taking the score to 16-13. The Raiders defense held up strong, ending the game 16-13 and advancing the Raiders to another state championship appearance.
