Game of the Week
Going into Week 10 of the NFL season, the Washington Commanders and the Pittsburgh Steelers faced off in what many called the Game of the Week. The rookie quarterback, Jayden Daniels, and longing veteran, Russell Wilson, would go face-to-face in hopes of having the best records in their respective divisions. This game started off well for the Steelers when their quarterback, Russell Wilson, threw a 16-yard pass to George Pickens for a touchdown in the opening quarter of the game. The Commanders then scored after a fake punt attempt from the Steelers failed with a 1-yard rushing touchdown from Austin Ekeler to tie the game 7-7. To start the second quarter, the Steelers punted to the Washington Commanders’ receiver, Olamide Zaccheaus, who muffed the punt, setting up Wilson’s second touchdown pass to tight end Pat Friermuth making the score 14-7. The Commanders ended the half with a touchdown from Austin Ekeler to give the Commanders a 17-14 lead at the half. The second half started with back-to-back touchdown drives from both teams. A pair of one-yard touchdown runs from Jeremy McNichols and Steelers’ Najee Harris brought the score to 24-21. The Commanders made another field goal to push their lead to 27-21. The Steelers then had back-to-back drives with turnovers. Late in the fourth quarter with their hopes on the line, Russell Wilson fired a deep ball to the newly acquired Mike Williams for a 32-yard touchdown that sealed the game for the Steelers, winning 28-27 and pushing their record to 7-2.
