On November 14, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. the STA Girls’ Varsity Soccer team played Carrollton at the Brian Piccolo Stadium. This was their third game of the 24-25 season after winning against their rival Gibbons, 4-0.
The Raiders had a shutout and mercy-ruled Carrollton 9-0. In high school, the term “mercy rule” means to be at least eight goals ahead of the opponent by half time. The girls played 40 minute halves and scored nine goals in 35 minutes. It was a quick game for the Raiders because they played together with integrity and efficiency. Sophomore Rhea Adams, who attended the game, was impressed by the passing and coordination that the team exhibited. “The girls displayed very good chemistry as they worked together to win the game. I learned how important it is to get to know teammates and how they play.” These are the players that scored the goals:
Madison McKeon: 3
Sophie Barnes: 2
Belen Cassina: 1
Brooklyn Burbridge: 1
Marissa Arellano: 1
Erin Smith: 1
Madison McKeon had a hat trick and was awarded the MVP of the match. In this game, she connected with the team and created many opportunities for herself and others. Congratulations to the STA Varsity girls for having such a successful win!
