Boys Soccer Pre-Season Workouts

The STA Boys Soccer team is a very successful sports program at STA. They boast five state championships,  numerous regional championship wins, and a win in their  district for the last 15 years in a row. This year’s goal, like every other year, is to win the state championship. The team will achieve this with great leaders to push the team to be their best, such as Coach John Walsh, and strict morals to help them succeed on and off the field.

There are many different ways athletes  prepare themselves for an upcoming sports season. The best way to prepare is to be in amazing shape. This helps athletes “have better stamina resulting in more effective decisions being made on the pitch… players can execute technical skills accurately and withstand physical challenges from opponents,” as stated by Player Data.

One varsity player, Luigi Landi, reports that the STA Boys Soccer team accomplishes this by having their athletes “sprint twenty yards back and forth with short rest intervals…jog sprints and walk with three sets of 12 to 15 minute intervals.”  Luigi has experienced this for himself, and he states that “these workouts are very taxing on the body… and I have felt a drastic [positive] change in my physical health since starting.”

With these great pre-season workouts in place, everyone is prepared for their main goal this season:“to become a state champion.” This is a goal for schools that have high expectations of their students like STA. Luigi Landi said this can be attained by “putting in the work, and staying consistent.” By implementing these workouts before the regular season, the boys achieve great heights and become state champions.
