NBA 2k25, the world renowned basketball console video game, is being hailed as a make or break game for 2k Sports. It was released for purchase on September 6, 2024. Leading up to the game, 2k Sports was emphasizing many new additions. To begin, they brought the auction house back to the MyTeam game mode after receiving extreme backlash from the community for making the best cards under a paywall. After a series of consistent bad games tarnished their reputation, the 2k community believes this could be the best game they’ve dropped in years. 

MyCareer:

The most played mode in 2k has come back with the least changes. For starters, there are new changes to the Takeover System that are extremely different from past years. In this 2k players can choose from 72 Takeovers and 14 Takeover Abilities using NBA 2K25’s new Takeover System to improve their MyPLAYER. Takeover now has five levels and gradually allocates more boosts per level.  Lastly, 2k added Heart of a Dynasty, a new addition to the game where players can relive their MyPlayer’s greatest games in the path to the pros.

MyTeam:

After the MyTeam mode was seen as “dead” and “unsaveable,” the developers at 2k completely redid the mode. To start off, they brought back the auction house, which is a place where you can acquire or sell cards that you receive on the road to build your dream team. They next added the Triple Threat Park, a mode just like My Careers’ MyPark, but the users control the players they get throughout the MyTeam mode. 2k25 also introduced MyTeam REP for the first time, REP serves as a measure of your success throughout the entire game.

MyGM:

NBA 2k25 marks the return of MyGM. This mode makes you an NBA team’s General Manager where you’ll have to build your roster and others on your way to NBA greatness. Upgrade your GM and unlock new perks to become the best GM ever.
