Freshman Kiera Carrol and Camila Ortiz were the first to be introduced on the announcements as your selected Homecoming Court. Many thoughts were rushing through the girls’ heads when first hearing their names get called. As you may imagine, they immediately started thinking about their next steps. Kiera Carrol stated, “I was most looking forward to the pep rally, to do my handshake with my brother, and walking with my dad on Friday night.” Following her, Camila said, “What I was most looking forward to for Homecoming Court was getting ready and creating a handshake with my escort.”
Sophomores Maddie Meltz and Emi Bernal were next to be announced as the selected Homecoming Court! Both girls felt very happy and surprised to be elected. Maddie explained, “I was not expecting to be chosen this year because I had already done it last year and I didn’t think people would vote for me again.” Emi commented, “I was very surprised because I honestly did it for fun and didn’t think I was going to be chosen.” Being chosen for Homecoming Court was a very exciting and memorable time that the girls will cherish forever, even past high school. Students have enjoyed the tradition of Homecoming Court for many decades at STA and this right-of-passage will continue as the next generation of homecoming royalty is crowned.
