On September 7th, the Aquinas Raiders’ Cross-Country team took part in their second invitational meet and third meet of the season. Here is how the Raiders performed at the Bulldog XC Invitational in Boca Raton last Saturday, September 7th.
In the JV boys’ division, the Raiders were led by Nicholas Grillo and Zach Nonez, who finished 12th and 14th in times of 21:42.7 and 21:52.3, respectively. This was followed by Joseph Castro and Jacob
McKaig who finished one behind another in 32nd and 33rd. George Velez-Marquez was the next Raider to cross the finish line in 41st. He was followed up by Phillip Sampson, Konrad Fellmeth, and Daniel Samela who crossed the line in 45th, 46th, and 48th.
Sebastian Ramirez was shortly behind in 50th and Nikolas Delvecchi in 56th. Michael Vrenna and Tyler Arch rounded off the Raiders in 74th and 85th to lead the JV boys to an impressive 2nd place finish in their division.
In the girls JV’ division, the Lady Raiders had 3 girls finish in the top 10! Christie Petrosino, Isabel Puebla and Viviana Gracia finished 7th, 8th, and 10th with times of 25:08.9, 28:45.8 and 26:15.6. Shortly after, they were followed by a quartet of Raiders. Elizabeth Briggs, Peyton Rich, Kiley Opsal, and Soeni Jean finished almost simultaneously in 20th, 21st, 23rd, and 24th. After them, Madeline Layne and Barbara Khan finished in 89th and 103rd to round off a Raiders’ repeat 3rd place finish from their last invitational.
The Varsity boys were led by Gustavo Perez, who finished in 22nd with a time of 17:40.3. Jeremiah Holassie and Ethan Maus were shortly behind in 27th and 29th with times of 17:49.1 and 17:51.9. Alexander Selman was the next Raider to finish in 70th. He was followed by Santiago Perez and Jon Magbanua in 78th and 83rd. Rory Ellis and Micheal Kraus finished in 123rd and 153rd to finish off the Raiders in the varsity boys race. They concluded with a 4th place overall finish.
The varsity girls came into the race as the defending champions of their last invitational meet. Grace Finneran led the Lady Raiders with an impressive 4th
place finish, in a time of 19:31.8. Taylor Gold and Ella Collins were shortly behind in 8th and 9th place with times of 20:13.8 and 20:34.7, respectively. Rebecca Cardenas and Charlotte Lee were one right behind the other in 14th and 15th, and Ana Isabella Quingatuna followed in 18th. Six Raiders finished in the top 20 alone! Angelica Cardenas finished in 25th with Remy Coia in 35th. Ivy Maus finished in 47th and Kylie Brunnemer finished 66th to wrap up the Varsity girls race for the Raiders. They left the meet with a repeat first 1st place finish to sum up a strong performance from the STA Cross Country team.
