On August 31st the Boys and Girls Cross-Country team took part in the Park Vista Invitational at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton. Here is how the Raiders performed in their season opener.
In the JV Boys 5k race, Braydn Commella finished 5th with a time of 20:40.80, Zack Nonez finished shortly behind in 7th with a time of 21:23.70. Ethan Minayak, Konrad Fellmeth, Sebastian Ramirez, and Nicholas Grillo finished in 17th, 19th, 21st, and 23rd to round off the top 25. Jacob McKaig, Philip Sampson, Daniel Samela, Nikolas Del Vecchio, Joseph Castro, Tyler Arch, Pierce Weber, and Micheal Vrenna finish in 30th, 34th 36th, 37th, 42nd, 44th, 55th, and 60th to help the Raiders clinch the Boys JV division win!
The JV Girls 5K race had fourRaiders in the top 20! Isabel Pubela finished 9th with a time of 24:29.60, and Vivianna Garcia finished 14th with a time of 25:33.40. Christie Petrosino and Kate Koontz finished 15th and 17th to solidify it. Elizabeth Riggs and Peyton Richcome 21st and 26th with Sophia Rivero, Caoimhe McConville, and Kiley Opsal shortly behind in 34th, 36th, and 38th. Sofia Fonesca, Madeline Layne, and Seni Jean finished 61st, 65th and 72nd, to help the JV Girls finish in 3rd.
In the Varsity Boys 5K, Gustavo Perez led the Raiders finishing 14th with a time of 17:22.80 along with Jeremiah Holassie in 23rd with a time of 17:47.70. Ethan Maus finished 38 with a time of 18:37.90. Alexander Selman, Santiago Perez, and Jon Magbanua finished 67th, 69th, and 71st. Rory Ellis finished 93rd, with Mike Kraus in 109th and George Velez-Marquez in 140th. Through this strong performance they helped the Raiders finish 4th in the Varsity Boys standings.
The Varsity Girls 5K was nothing short of exciting for the Raiders. Grace Finneran finished 6th with a time of 19:29.50, Taylor Golf finished 10th with a time of 20:00.70 and Ella Collins finished 14th with a time of 20:40.50. Charlotte Lee, Ana Isabella Quingatuna, and Rebecca Cardnenas finished 22nd, 27th and 29th. Angelica Cardenas was shortly behind in 34th. Remy Coia and Kylie Brunnemer finished 53rd and 61st. Alexis Morgan rounded it off for the Raiders in 90th. This strong performance from the Girls Cross Country team led them to a first place finish, winning the Varsity Girls title!
