In 2022, Saint Thomas Aquinas High School launched the Sports Management Club. In an athletically skilled school like St. Thomas, the Sports Management Club aims to expose students to opportunities in the world of sports.
The club is affiliated with the Jason Taylor Foundation careers in sports program, The Athletic Trainers Association Of Florida, and also the Morgan’s Message Foundation.
Members of the club are exposed to a variety of opportunities to gain hands-on experience with sports management and medicine. Students are involved directly with the planning of media coverage and basic medical procedures. Members are tasked with checking in athletes and making sure they are helped with any pre-existing injuries or those incurred during practice or games. This can include wrist taping, making ice packs, and filling hydration stations.
The moderator is Roshonda Exantus. For information about joining the club, students can scan the QR code found on one of the flyers around campus or email [email protected] to sign up for an interview. Sports Management Club alternates meeting locations between the training room or Mrs. Couch’s classroom, 403.
