The biannual Vocabulary Bowl has returned! Twice a year, Vocabulary.com holds a competition for public and private K-12 students across the U.S. and Canada to master the most vocabulary words for their school. The Spring Season began at 12 AM (GMT) on February 1 and ended at 11:59:59 PM (AoE) on March 31. Our very own St. Thomas Aquinas High School won the number one spot for most words mastered out of all public and private middle and high schools in the nation.
Sophomore English teacher Ms. Tabon was a huge part of STA’s success this year. Her class was number one in the nation for most words mastered per class. However, it was Ms. Shaak who encouraged all the English teachers to sign up for the bowl. Ms. Tabon stated, “I had my students participate, but when they saw how many words they were mastering and how our class was moving up, they were naturally encouraged to keep going for the number one spot. I hope that our school’s success this year will aid in building up our academic reputation.”
