Last weekend, the girls rowing team secured their win in the Girl’s Junior Quad State Championship. Quad rowing consists of a boat of four rowers. The team has to work together to scull the boat with two oars each; one in each hand.

STA’s team of quadruple rowers consists of  Sheridan Wolf, Alicia Longo, Sienna Wells and Francesca Brown. Sienna Wells, a junior at St. Thomas Aquinas revealed, “We have worked hard every day to prepare for this big win. It felt great once we won. I knew that our hard work finally paid off.” According to Sienna, rowing practice requires a lot of strength and stamina, “Rowing practice consists of on and off-water workouts including a lot of long runs. Rowing utilizes every major muscle of your body including your arms, legs, and abdomen.” The girls rowing team has won the state championship for the past two years in a row.  This is in no small part due to their consistent and rigorous practices and indomitable team spirit.
